Celebrating Vatican II are a series of short presentations in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Vatican Council II. These will continue the discussion around Vatican II that emerged from our Vatican II Series last year. They are part of our parish Adult Faith Enrichment efforts. All are welcome!

the Church that prompted the calling of Vatican II.

OPENING SPEECH OF VATICAN II
This session looks at Pope John XXIII, and his opening remarks to the Church (and world) gathered in Rome in 1962 to begin the council.
December 15/16 VATICAN II: WHO WAS THERE?
This session examines the participants of Vatican II who was there, and who wasn’t. It looks closely at the significant contributions of theologians, experts, and others.

SHORT HISTORY OF CHURCH
COUNCILS
This session is a short history of Church councils. What are they? Why
are they called? How many have we had? What are some of the
contributions to our Catholic Faith that come from these councils,
especially Vatican II?
Feb 9/10, 2010 WORLD REACTION TO VATICAN II
This session reflects on the reaction of the world to the council, and
the ongoing questions that continue to emerge 50 years later.
May 18/19, 2010 RELIGIOUS LIFE AND PRIESTHOOD
This session looks at the Vatican II document on priestly and religious
life, what happened after the Council and what is happening today
regarding vocations within the church, and priestly spirituality today.
